Default Identifing 2nd New Luger

Hello all. Here are some pictures of the second Luger I recieved from my uncle. It seems somewhat peculiar because it does not have a SN on the front of the grip frame below the barrel and the SN is 8088 but nearly all of the parts have "88" on them. Additionally, there appears to be no markings whatsoever on the grip frame at all, plus the toggle is marked "42" as well as above the barrel. Parts gun? I don't know anything about the history of this gun and my uncle was also not able to shed any light on it. Any toughts?

The front sight looks like it came off a Swedish Mauser based on the crown marking.

It looks like the serial number on the receiver and barrel has been removed. Don't think that the Germans would have done this.

I figured the front sight was an add on. Should the toggle be a BYF to be correct? Obviously the lower is incorrect.

Roger that. And a fine shooter. Was thinking about getting the correct front site put on.

Shoot it first. That sight may be on there for a really good reason...
