Default 1940 42 luger

Apologies, I placed this in the wrong section asking for value. Mod(s) please move to discussion, or appropriate section.

Hello this is my first post. I would like to get some value estimates on this piece, the magazine is not original, and the holster is a replica.

Thank you

Can't really tell about some important features from the photos, such as bluing wear on the grip frame, numbering inside, etc, etc, etc, so it's tough, but if I were buying today I'd try to get it for $1300, & sell it at something north of $1600.
It actually looks very nice. Congrats!

More photos, less shadows, and completely but carefully disassemble it checking for numbers on pins, hold-open device, grip panels, etc. Photos of front and back grip straps that show blue wear, side plate, muzzle wear, etc. Bore condition?
But after all that I'll probably stay in that $ range anyway. Bottom line is that it is worth exactly what someone will pay you for it, no more and no less. Check out completed auctions on GunBroker.com. Most collecters will give nothing extra for the re-pop. holster, and it will be priced out of the range for shooters.
What damage or wear are you seeing, and what do you know about its history? I can't see that it is refinished. What do you know about it? Any bring-back papers or other documentation?

I'll disassemble and post more pics, after work. It looks in excellent shape, can not see where it has had any re-blue work done to it, to my eye. Pretty much just like you see in the pics. Only the whitening of the serial number, as in pics.

Current owner has never fired the pistol, and has owned it for two years. No paper(s), and I have no history on it.

I picked up a 1940 - 42 2 years ago with a holster and tool for $1150. The prices have gone up some but I would agree with the price quoted of $13-1600. Ask much more and you maybe having to wait for the market to reach the price.

OK, here are the disassembled pictures, even using macro, some of the pics just would not auto focus well. Hopefully these will be good enough to satisfy what you were looking for.

It's not original, so I did not photo in detail.

To me it is. In a better market probably more, but I've only been at this since the slump, so that is where I would place it. Again it certainly depends on whether you're buying or selling, I consider these investments and (try to) avoid getting all aflutter over any of them.
But like I said it seems very nice, just not extra-ordinary in any regards to take it to another level.
And I'm waiting for the more experienced collecters to chime in.

Your pistol looks great and seems to be all original. I would say buying it today the cost would be 1800.00 to 2000 with the hoster thrown in as a bonus.
