Today is the 65th anniversary of D Day.

Let us all pause to remember and thank the 150,000 brave young men who literally entered the jaws of hell 65years ago, so that we could live free of an unspeakable evil.

We'll never forget because we were either alive or had relatives that were there. I really worry about future generations.

What also worries me is that the current school generation appears not to be interested in history!

Just did a re enactment for 200 WW2 GIs, including simulated battle. My son and I are usually with the 2nd. Infantry Division, but they were short of Germans so we played German Fallshirmjaeger Regiment 3 paratroopers. I with my blanked MP40 and my son with his K98.

We had a ball. I was inspected and passed muster by a real German Paratrooper, we met a member of the Belgian Resistance, (with really unbelievable stories), The Master Sargeant of the 506th. 101st. Airborne Division and a General who was on Patton's staff.
It could not have been better today. God Bless all our Veterans.

Doc, They don't have the opportunity to be interested..Liberal Public Schools don't teach the subject.
I talked with a High School graduate who had never had one hour of ANY kind of history taught to him .The subject came up when I mentioned Hitler. He says..Hitler who? Never heard of the guy. He DID however get a weeks training on how to put a condom on a banana.

There is an old saying that those who fail to heed the lessons of history are destined to repeat it. I fear that since the most recent generation has failed to learn any history they will be on the express train to repeat it.

I work with a guy in his 30's who never heard of Custers last stand or the Little Big Horn I was shocked and dismayed.

Things go on in other classes as well. A few years ago, sat thru a parent's night in high school. The chemistry teacher startedtaking about the community service the kids would be doing.

To make a long story short, I was sort of vocal. None of hte other parents said anything and were trying to hide. The teacher, in the next 2 years, made reference to the unreasonable father.

Community service when they are supposed to be learning chemistry. No wonder the country is going to the dogs.
