Default Help with identifying Luger

I hope to get some help identifying this Luger . A friend of mine purchased two Lugers , this one of them. I know it is going to be hard to say anything from picture only. I will welcome any comments.
Regards, Kris

Hi Chris,

Welcome. It looks like a nice and original 1918 DWM (Deutsche Waffenund Munitionsfabriken).

Imperial. The Death's Head is often touted as an SS or Concetration camp emblem. In actuality it is most likely a Freikorps (post WWI) Nationalist Militia emblem. There is also a thought that it is a Flamethrower unit marking.

There are some who believe that they are all fakes. I don't necessarily agree with this theory.

There are a great number of these floating around that have been faked and promoted as SS pistols. I'm not an expert on DH marks, but this one looks original.

Ron

1320???
That's the earliest property mark I've ever seen.
Probably a broken die or a drunken German.
It was put into Police service during the Weimar era.

Can you tell us where or what state the death head came from? This one looks good to me.
