Luger Holster & Tool for review

Hello everyone,

At a gun show today I got a Luger holster and tool. If possible I would like to find out if they are German third reich era.

The tool was a bonus, after buying the holster I opened up the little holster and bam! There was the little take-down tool.

I took a few pictures so hopefully someone can help me. It is marked "43" but I have doubts about that being a correct stamp. I look forward to hearing your responses.

The holster is Third Reich era, the tool, DWM Imperial or just a commericial. With no maker marks on the holster it is probably a commercial from the TR era therefore the tool would be perfectly correct.

The easiest way to date the holster to the TR era is the magazine pouch construction.

If it is commericial as you say I might have to trade or sell it. I was a bit suspicious when I bought it, but the price was right.

Any ideas of the value of the tool, and holster?

Tough to price a common holster in that condition, but my wild guess would be around $40 to $50, but only if one intends to send it to Jerry Burney for restoration of the belt loop and tie down strap. As for the tool, maybe $20 or so.

Aaron, Thanks for the plug...If this were my holster, I would hesitate to restore it. The condition of the front body and top is far from the ideal one looks for.
Replacement of the closure strap and the left belt loop would run $75-80 and even though it would complete the holster.. it might be throwing your money away considering the rest of the holsters condition.
At the very best it would be a push.
On a holster without these condition issues, it would be more feasable.

Well I don't plan on putting any money into repairing a holster in this condition. I am not sure what I am going to do with the holster yet. I only have $30 into it (including the tool), so it is okay for a cheap display piece. Although I was hoping it would be a German ww2 era military holster. I wasn't aware there were many commercial Lugers made during the third reich era.

I thought more than anything the tool would be worth a bit, only $20? Either way it isn't like I have a lot of money into it.

When you say to date the holster to the TR era is the magazine pouch constrcuction, what do you mean , what should I look for that is different from military holster please?
