Ed, This Police Shako has no patina...I am no expert on these but I don't like the looks of it or the hardware attached. Looks too new to me.

At WA you can search out say POLICE SHAKO EMBLEM and all the posts concerning it will appear even if you cannot post I beieve. It's a great site to research TR items.

Jerry, I tend to agree with you on the police shako, but I took a chance on it. I could have went up there Thurs. to preview the auction with my parents, just did not have the time. My Dad said the guy was 83, he and his wife were selling everything and moving into assisted living. So if it is fake I only paid $45.00 for it, and it's going to the couple so I do not mind. Plus I got a nice Remington Rand 1911 from another estate sale from this aution house at what I think was a real good price. As for the Medical Hewer I got it for less than what you said it might go for. Missed the flag, but oh well. I will tell my parents to ask if he was a vet and if they were bring backs. I got that bayonet too so, I will post pictures tomorrow if anyone is interested
Thanks to all who helped
Ed

Guys,
I fear we have had a severe adverse effect on poor Tac.
We had better do a bubba-ectomy on him before it gets any worse.
