UPDATE!
I contacted GT regarding the mag. I ended up getting it in with his help and then found it was the wrong one for my mag. During the process of trying to get it back out i messed it up pretty bad. This was a few days before christmas. I wrote him again concerning my new delema. He said "Its Christmas, send it to me and ill get it back in shape, No charge" 0_0 I sent it to him and got it back in about a week. Its not renickeled but it looks fantastic and works perfectly. Cant even tell i really did anything to it. I say GT is a top on my list. Ive been on gun forums since i was 13 and hes got to be in the top three for me. ![]() Hi guys, I got me a button to fix that mag i just baught. All i need to know is how to put it in without dammaging the mag. Is that nipple supposed to mushroom out....are you supposed to press it in there? It feels and looks like the old button is completely gone. I checked the depth. The idea that comes to mind is using a screw C clamp and putting a piece of cloth between the mag and clamp and button and clamp and pressing it in there? Sound like an idea? Thanks Jarrod

Hi Jarrod, It's sometimes even amazes me how these mags can come back from the dead or near dead, not all the time, but most of the time...Glad it turned out for you, and, I was happy to do it ... Thanks for the kind words and best to you in this New Year..

GT,
thank you for your private message. I cannot send you the photo by PM, so I post it here. this mag is worth nothing by itself. But the wood bottom has stamps and markings (4. / 55.) which are matching with my MARS pouch, 1917 dated and restamped during Weimar time with the same markings (SD IV. 4. 55). You understand why I consider my mag as very precious... the broken wood bottom has been strongly and badly glued. I don't know if it can be repaired..and if it needs repairs..thank you for your advice !! christian |

Hi Christian, all we can do is try! It all depends on how well the glue adhered on the bad repair...and what we would have left to work with on the second go around... My mailing address is: G.T. Specialties, 316 West Straford Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225 USA You might be in for a little wait as i have a few intense projects ahead of you ... Best to you Christian, til...lat'r...GT

Hey Morgan Kane!
![]() If you mean the wood ones, MEC-GAR will work nicely, or any sheetmetal tube, most preferably the early tin or nickel plate... Need my super duper springs either way!! ![]() ![]() |
