Default For those who have all: Which is "funnest" config? Navy, Arty, or standard?

If you were just going to go out to the range (or pack a sidearm on some jungle island with giant apes, bugs, and dinosaurs), which Luger would be your first choice? Artillery model? Navy model? Or the ever popular standard 4" version?

You can, no doubt see where this is going. I am pondering rebarreling a shooter (or two??!!!) into shooter versions of these long barreled Lugers just for funs sake, and I want to know, from those of you who have shooting versions of the Navy or Artillery, which is "funner" to have and to shoot?

Thanks in advance for any and all input...

Zamo, 6 inch hands down in either 9mm ot 30 luger. However in other guns that Igot, I like the 5 inch for carribility and how it feels in my hand.

For coolness, the 4 in ch and the 8unch are tied. The 4 inch has the "luger" mysteque to it and wins from the folks. the 8 inch attracts them cuz its a Luger, but something is wrong with it....

Yea, but if I were up against giant gorillas and dinosaurs,
I'd want the 5" barrel. That's what the 45 cal. luger came with.

If I was up against giant gorilla and dinosaurs, I would go in the other direction.

Stocked artillery with all leather attached. It competes with most things that shoot, including the rifles.

I can shoot it at the range standing, lieing down, kneeling, etc...

Zemo, I do conversions to the 6 or 8" barrels quiet frequestly. Either with or without the Navy or LPO8 rear sights. Lately, the 6" with the Navy rear sights, seem to be the most popular. Tom

If I were up against giant gorillas or dinosaurs . I would want a 20mm anti tank gun.

My own personal choice if I were up against maniacal gorillas or dinosaurs would be twin .50's or a chain gun. That being said, I thought this little item would also fit the bill nicely.

Tom, your services were exactly who I had in mind. I'll be in touch when the time comes!

Yeah, I put that "giant this and that" in reference to Capt. Englehorn's deft wielding of his Artillery P08 in the latest remake of "King Kong". Nothing against the Luger, or the 9mm parabellum, but I think I'd prefer an M61 Vulcan, a 25mm chaingun, or a good old fashioned M2 BMG against the critters in that movie. Preferably helo mounted and far, far above the carnage.
Though I must admit, Capt. Englehorn's Luger did play a small part in my renewed interest in the P08. I saw it when I watched the movie, then I had to figure out if it was a Navy or an Artillery, then I wanted one, then I bought one, then I bought another...

When attacking gorillas on a remote island, I'd pack some serious heat in this shape:

My vote goes to the stocked artillery also.

One odd thing about the shooter-ability of a Navy length barrel vs. the Artillery .... the Navy Luger barrel and back sights have a LONGER SIGHT RADIUS than the Artillery set-up, which I think makes for a better sight picture, potentially more accurate aim, and a handier package. The Artillery sights are more ornamental than functional, IMHO.
