Mauser 1914 pocket pistol

Well guys, I finally picked up this Mauser today out of a collection. (I thought it was a 1910, but realized it was a 1914 when i finally saw the gun in person). All numbers match (ser# 45398) And it has the military proof in front of the rear site. I know some on the forum collect these so any info would be great! Let me know how I did..

hello, I have one..
your pistol is very fine. The right side of the slide is not stamped with "Mauser-7,65", so it is a military one. Is there any regimental marking on the front of the grip ? I have a doubt about your magazine..I try to post a photo.

WG, I agree that the mag shown in your M1914 does not appear to be an original Mauser, or even one of the new repros. The thick bottom reminds me of a French Ruby type, probably shorten to fit. TH

Thanks for the compliment, but I am far from being a Mauser expert.

If you are going to get into Mauser pocket pistols. The only good referrence available is the somewhat outdated and out of print "Mauser Pocket Pistols 1910-1946" by Roy Pender. If you find a copy for less than $225 you're doing good. There was one on Ebay recently, and if I recall it was already over $300.

Yours is one of the wartime commercials. Pender states that it is one of the more difficult variations to find. "Some" have military acceptance stamps. Also, Christian and Tom are correct, the magazine is not for a Mauser 1914. I have seen 1914s fitted with Beretta 1934 finger extension magazines.

Hey Guys.. thanks for all the feedback.. I should have mentioned before about he mag.. yes I know its not correct.. Actually it appears to be a modified F&N mag? (Maybe from a Browning 1922?) And yes Ron, I have a friends copy of Pender's book in hand... and I had read that same statement. "Difficult" versions eh.. very cool! I guess I did ok.. Let me also add that.. not having taken one down, this is one of the most ingenious & over engineered guns I've ever seen.. and I just love it!

The Imperial Army inspection stamp forward of the rear sight indicates that your 1914 Mauser was procured and accepted by the Imperial German Army. Your pistol was manufactured in 1914/early 1915. About 100,000 of these pistols were procured by the German Army. Excellent find.

WG, I agree about the over-engineering, but there was still a lot of hand fitting, which is what make this model difficult to work on. I do have new repro mags in stock, which were designed for this pistol @$30 + S&H, but will have to check my stock to see if I have any originals left. TH
