Reblued Luger

Well, my luger has finally come home.......or almost, I will pick it up tonight after work at the post office. It's taken right at 3 months since I sent it off..........that's been a LONG 6 WEEKS! I find it very frustrating to be told you will see it this week........and the days go by and by and by...... and then I get a phone call a week and a half later asking for the mailing address! I know I sent several E-Mails inquiring about when it would be shipped and stating the Address to ship it to. I don't know how many E-Mails I sent, most of them came back undeliverable, but when he did answer he was either done, or ready to ship but even after I had paid on line it was a good 3 weeks till it got mailed........I can only hope that it is a good job. I will post pics one way or another tonight if I get home in time.

Hey Guys,
Over all I think it looks great! So much so that I don't even want to **** it or move the safety! I will try to get the pictures up today. Please don't shoot me but when he asked if I wanted the small parts blued or strawed.........I went with straw. I know that wasn't too smart but I really like that color.
The one thing I see that I don't care for is the stars in the barrel. It had some light pitting and the blue system didn't get down into it. When I scanned it last night they all shine like stars in sky at night.........anyway, now I have a pretty one and I have a shooter, so I should be OK for a while.

okay, pictures posted. What you were doing was correct, but once the picture is "uploaded", then you have to copy and past the link into the New Topic area (already opened), or upload straight from the ADD REPLY area. I can tell the pictures were already in the system as they are named copy2, copy3, etc, automatically by the system.

It just takes time to figure out...

That is a nice looking shooter and i'm sure it will get alot of positive comments at the range when you take it shooting. That blue job looks alot better than mine and the strawing really makes a difference. I like it.

Im sure the pictures of the barrel look woorse than it actually is, but is there anything that can be done to get blue in the barrel pitting?

After considering a restoration service, like LugerMan, etc. which states a turnaround of three months or more, and where the work is done by one individual, I have just about categorically decided it is too much risk.
At the custom shop of Smith and Wesson, if one person quits, or gets sick, or expires, someone else will take care of your gun, and you know the work has been kept together, documented, etc.
But, God forbid, if someone idividual, however talented, who has your gun disassembled, half blued, and other guns in various stages of work, gets into an accident, or is indisposed for an indefinite amount of time, or has a disruption of their home, etc. ---- well, then you might never see your gun again, or never see it all in one piece again. Those who come along and try to take care of the loose ends afterwards, might be well-intentioned in trying to get the guns back to their owners, but unable to know what was what or whose.
The restoration work might actually take a week, work and waiting between processes, but you know a waiting turnaround time of months means your gun is sitting in queue, or is disassembled and partially done and inactive, for most of that time.
There is no reason I can think of that would prevent such work from being scheduled, and the time slot reserved, at least so that the gun is only there maybe a week before work actually begins. Otherwise, forget it. Life's too short.
