Default Rear toggle Marking

Putting together a parts shooter,Got this rear toggle from e-bay auction,Has this marking (picture below) along with an O and an a in other locations .what do these represent?

The two main schools of thought are that it stands for a particular Mauser inspecor (Richard?) Weiss, or for rework. The real answer is unknown. It appears on more weapons than just Lugers, and earlier than Mauser P-08 production.
