Well, if you find a gun at cellar or at attic, you have to inform the proper administration (depends on federal state, may be police or Ordnungsamt). Do not carry the gun anyway!

If you have a permisson to get this gun, you can apply to get this gun. In other case it will be destroyed or sold.

You can take with you without any permission only some ancient muzzeloaders and airguns.

If somebody without gun permission inherit a gun, he has to inform the administration within 2 weeks and can apply a special permission, normally he get it without problems.
