Area of concern

Is this an area to be concerned about. Looks like alot of lugers have what appear to be cracked in this area? I'm new to lugers and looking at some I have noticed this.

That area should be milled in a curved shape. There should be no cracks in the frame in that area.

If you see a crack there, it's a damaged frame.

I've never seen a frame cracked there, no reason for it to crack there.
I think it is a milling line or imperfection in the steel.

I have old eyes and even blown up, I don't see a crack?

First and foremost I don't claim to be an expert, BUT I don't recall ever having seen a crack there.

If you are concerned about a possible crack in metal, there are a lot of ways to discern such. A net search engine will show a lot of hits on the subject.

Two of the more simplistic are the dye and magnetic methods used in various industries. Dye can come in a spray can fwiw.

If you know a local engine builder, he might have a magnfluxing type unit.

I don’t see a crack either. For what it’s worth, there’s a lot of meat there and practically no stress applied to that area of the frame,

Do you actually have these guns in hand, or are you evaluating pistols for purchase from photographs alone?

I think that the thing you're seeing may be a slight ridge caused by the curve milling tool being set too deeply when removing metal.
