This seller has many guns that do not sell because they are priced way out of line...

His photographs seldom show any detail... they are always slightly out of focus. I would not bid on auction firearms that did not have good clear photographs... since they are the next best thing to being there... if a seller inflates condition and it shows up on your door... you are out shipping in both directions even it if was a bargain... because it wasn't what you expected for the money you paid. It is not worth the gamble when you can't even see what you are buying.

It has been several years ago when I was working in Dallas that I got to know the owner of this gunshop. He was a very nice guy and had nice Lugers priced right. I have bought 3 from him in the past; 2 at his shop and 1 by phone. They were always as described. I stopped buying when his prices got WAY more than they were worth. Unless he has changed in the past few years, he was honest, but his prices are out of line.

I hope my post didn't come across the wrong way... I have had no dealings with this particular seller and can't comment on his integrity... I am glad that you have experienced good dealings with him in the past.

I thought I had only commented on his sales/auction methodology and the potential consequences to a buyer who can't clearly see what his/her money is buying...

Shipping handguns back and forth can be a costly proposition and that I would avoid this by requiring clear photographs of all details on an investment of this size....

NO, your post did not come across the wrong way!!! The reason I posted was that this dealer had decent prices at one time and them everything he had went way UP in price. I have not understood how he sells pistols at these prices as he has a nice shop between Dallas and Fort Worth near Six Flags.

When I was dealing with him, he was honest, but time does change folks so I can't make any comment as to his dealings today. I agree with you that his methods of sales leaves a lot to be desired in the sales department.

I do read the Forum daily and still enjoy it very much. Take care.

Hello Johnny,

DFW Arms was located at 1912 Baird Farm Road, Arlington, Texas, and the phone number was 817-459-2122. This has been several years ago and I don't know if he has moved or changed phone numbers. If my memory serves me correct, I took the next exit after Six Flags, went to the right, took the first left at a red light at Baird Farm Road, take a right and the shop was on the left. He was located in a small strip chopping center so you have to look carefully for the shop.

If you go by there, let us know what he has and if the prices are really as high as the internet. Also, tell him Marvin Cook said hello (if he does not remember, tell him I am the one that bought a 1939 Luger from him within 3 minutes of the Fort Worth show opening).

He will be at the Big Town(Mesquite) show this weekend and at Market Hall(Dallas)next weekend. He never misses these shows. He never marks the prices on these Lugers; doesn't even tag them with what they are. My take on this is he wants you to ask to look at them or ask what a particular one is. He keeps everything on his tables under glass(I would to) but he could at least identify them so a collector like me would know whether or not to take up any of his time.

Went by DFW Arms - the guy had 2 Lugers for sale -both were S/42's, one dated 1937 and the other 1938. One had mismatched numbers, but both in good condition. He was asking $895 each.
Anyone know of other collectors/dealers around the DFW area ? Personally looking for a S/42 original dated 1939 in good condition for a fair price. Any ideas ?

Ralph Shattuck's latest list has a matched 1936 s/42 "shooter", vg finish, for $550 (Stock #: 6090.). IMHO, Ralph is knowledgable guy of great integrity.Phone (623) 566-0551.
