I figured I would post this to help other new collectors learn what to avoid.

Thanks a lot for sharing, even a child could see that was heavily rebuffed, it's really unbelievable.
Unfotunately these things happen everywhere, only a few minutes ago I've sent an urgent email to a friend; last night he sent me some pictures of a beautiful 1911 governent model he'll receive from Germany and this morning I told him that I was interested on buying that gun. Too bad while checking a bit I soon realized that the pictures he received from Germany were of another Government model belonging to an advanced collector in the States that incidentally I know as we are members of the same 1911 forum... In other words it's always better to be a bit suspicious and check everything before opening the wallet...

Unfortunately no amount of education would convince her that the Erfurt in the link above is not "new" and and "RC" does not mean reworked after WWI.

That Luger is a true "fluff and buff"!! May be a good shooter @ $700.

RC is the acceptance of a part that did not meet specifications, it was used mostly by Erfurt, but also by DWM, it simply means, oops, this doesn't pass first look for that part, and a senior inspector 'signed off' on it! Ed |

you mis-read me again, probably 'cause I rite rotten. ![]() the lady in question said "RC means reworked after WWI", I was attempting to point out that (again) she was wrong. I re-worded my part of the post, maybe I should have just cut and pasted the original verbiage. I reckon you did not read the auction description? It's worth the effort as an example of creative fiction.

I'm a Belly Dancer, not a firearms expert - I just enjoy firearms. Even I can tell immediately that its a fluff & buff to the point of looking "melted". Must have had quite a bit of pitting.
