Early 1900, looks original to me....BUGs, Type 1 safety...starts at 1999.00... If I didn't already have one, I might bite.

That is one nice 1900 commercial. The high degree of finish will help it appreciate faster than "plain Jane" 1900's.

$1999 was just starting price, there is a hidden reserve. Real nice 1900 on gunbroker.com, IMO, is not this one. At least, this one's grip panel has a chip.. The one that I like most is this TE from luger666:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=460854720 The finish is obviously original. From viewer's perspective, he should clean up the bore a little bit. That bore picture (picture #9) may worry some viewers. But consider this was a test pistol, that's normal even if the bore is not excellent. Hope I had $$. |

The checkered area is longer than on my commercial #4672 ...I though that was the difference on type 1 and 2

The checkering on a Type 1 safety is very close to half the entire length of the safety lever. I think that the checkering on the Gunbroker Luger might appear to be longer than the safety on your Commercial but I don't think it actually is.

Detail brought up a bit. This serial number is in a solid range of Type 1 reports.
I'd want to make darn sure I took advantage of my 3-day inspection, the exposure of the photos and the absence of telltale views make my hackles rise about whether or not the finish is original. --Dwight |

First series probably 2nd variation with the cut for the magazine follower button.
Very nice gun anyway. Sergio

Side plate looks ground/sanded to me. shows vertical line from bottom to top and grain doesn't match on either side of vertical line.
