Does a pistol with mismatched serial numbers relegate it to a shooter and not to be considered a collector gun?

Hi,
Not always. Some mismatches were the results of 'period' rebuilds. Examples of these are the DDR / East-German VoPo P08 pistols. Also, many Dutch lugers had their uppers swapped with differently numbered lowers. This affects the value, but they still remain collectable. |

The Model 1900 US Test Trials Luger is frequently found with mis-matched parts but they are still very desirable and you are lucky if you find or own one. As Gerben said, it affects the value but they remain collectable.
