What I hope to be a most happy day tomorrow
. Heard of a Luger for sale today( private partyy) and quickly checked it out just about 30 min. ago. Funny thing, I live in the country and this fellow lived less that a half mile of my house. Back to my find, nothing rare but it looks great to me, pictures tomorrow after I pick it up. Details it's a 1915 DWM all matching including the mag. I'd say 90%+ on the finish, mirror bore, grips feel a 'little' loose with a very small chip mising below the safety. The s/n is 6922-d.The cost, $1,200, I feel that is a good buy. Any info on production figures and the like? This owner had it for around 25 years. My one disapointment was I hoped it would be unit marked and it's not.I take to some that is a plus. Thanks for any info. Pictures tomorrowBill MMM?? some mag questions. I just did some forum research. I take for the mag to be matching it 'must' have all four digits of the S/N. As I looked over this 1915 the grips looked on the darker side(oiled?) and the wood mag bottom matched the grip color. My question is that I am quite sure the mag was only marked with 22 and a imperial looking proof mark stamped below the 22. Might this be a forced match mag? or are there exceptions to the all four digit rule? Tks,Bill[/B] |

Sounds like a forced mag. As a 1915 it must be a DWM. DWM mags were not "proofed" but just numbered. The serial number should be complete and include the letter suffix.

I must admit I had no loop and not the best light. The mag bottom was quite dark/worn and the 22 was hard to make out and what I took for a proof mark just migt be the suffix and the other two digits just might be there. If it was not matching, does $1,200 still sould abought correct?
Tks,Bill |

Non-matching mag. alone won't necessarily bring it down below that figure, but the gun has to be pretty good. Get us some pictures so we can give it a good going over.

No- I was going to tonite and post photos after I bought it. The older fellow would care little for me to remove it for photos even with a deposit. Cash and carry!
