Early 1914 Erfurt

I think I have an early 1914 Erfurt P08, serial number 2506 with no letter. The frame has no artillery sight cut, the sear is not relieved and there are proof marks on everything including the grip screws. Its all matching numbers including the grips with fine non-pitted bore. It has 60-70% blueing with some pitting as in the photos. I've shot it and it functions perfectly. It also has the holdopen catch. Yesterday I saw brief mention by another person on Jan Still's forum about the early 1914 as opposed to the late 1914 so I had to check mine out.

I can't find any reference to this type pistol variation in the Lugers at Random book so I'm hoping that you can tell me about it. Hopefully including comments about scarcity.

The first photo shows some redness on the takedown lever button but thats just the light.

I posted a while ago with my 'new' 1914. See All military. gun show find. There were 7000 made. About the only other thing I can add is the side proofs: Your's falls between two known:
UVD and UGD

I missed your post completely. I hope that the experts here will find my 1914 correct as they did yours. You have one nice 1914.

What does UVD and UGD mean?

Those are the proof marks along the rt. receiver. Each inspector had his own stamp. Means he OK'd it at some stage. Somewhere I have the whole process in print. But where?????

Mine reads U U(?) D

I think your's is U L(?) D. So the first and last inspectors were on the job. The middle inspector seems to keep changing.

Help from the 'Old Timers"?
