Hi guys,glad I found this forum. Need help De-crypting grip strap marks on 1911. Starting from bottom moving towards trigger housing- the number12;4mm tall then period-the letter A;5mm tall then period-the letterF then period-the letter I(?)then period both 5mm tall-the number 2;4mm tall then period-the letter H 5mm tall then period-the number 6;3mm tall then period. Note period = . Anybody wanna take a shot? Thanks..Steve

According to Jeff Noll's "Imperial German Regimental Markings" page 19, Your A.F.1.2.H.6 would translate to the 2nd Howitzer Munitions column attached to the 1st Foot Artillery Regiment, gun #6.
