Default Magazine springs

I Replaced the spring in my unmarked DWM magazine with a circular spring, drifting out the retaining pin with no problem, however the pin in my S/42 2/1001 magazine, is so well hidden in the workmanship and blueing process that I can't identify it's position, even with a magnifying glass held under a magnifying light. I also notice that the spring appears more square in shape rather than round. Were different springs used in Luger mags, and can they be interchanged? Thanks - Bob

Default Re: Magazine springs

Bob, The spring in a Schmeisser designed PO8 mag should be the zig-zag type versis the coil type with spring guide in the folded mags. I don't recommend interchanging them, as the tubes are really designed for one type. The retaining pin on the schmeissers passes thru the center of the finger pull area and are generally peened over on most military mags (different pin on Police type) and the rim on one side should be removed before trying to drift out the pin.
