My Wife's late Grandfather brought a Luger back to the states after WWII, which is currently with my Wife's Uncle. I might possibly purchase, but need help to identify...production date?, and how much it's worth?
95% bluing very minor pitting Toggle inscription- DWM logo Chamber inscription- "N" with crown above No grip safety 3 3/4"- 4" barrel...not sure?? Checkered walnut grips- excellent condition "safe" on forward position covering "Gesichert" serial number 73xxx all small parts match and carry last 2 digits 1 correct magazine with matching number flap holster in excellent condition "M.Hubsch" ornately engraved on backstrap-German owner? Also...what is the little "pocket" for on the inside flap of the holster? I appreciate any info that could be passed on to a possible future Luger owner. Thank You.

I can answer a few questions off the top of my head, and I am sure others will chime in.
"what is the little "pocket" for on the inside flap of the holster?" This held a loading tool for the magazine, if you load a box or two of ammo, your thumb gets pretty beat up. DWM is the manufacturer To figure out the barrel length, ensure the gun is empty, then stick a pencil down the bore, the length of the bore can be determined in that way. serial number 73xxx Usually signifies a commerical made gun, someone told you it was a commerical, because I see you listed it here and in another area? Has it been taken apart, all matching must include many different small parts also. Take a look at Tech and General Info on your left, provided you came into www.lugerforum.com and you can see a lot of information. Are there other markings, such as proofs on the right or left side? Can you scan it in or provide digital pictures?

The Luger is a 1914 Commercial, very near the end of "prewar" commercial production. The N with the crown above should be of the "lazy" type, lying on its side rather than vertical.
The little pocket in the holster is for the "skatekey" loading tool. The safe is actually "on" (rendered safe) when the GESICHERT is exposed. Since this is a commercial gun, the "M.Hubsch" is probably the name of the former German owner. It would be very much appreciated if you could post pictures of the gun and holster. It will be interesting to see if the holster is commercial also.

Thanks for the info. Would it be possible for anyone to give me an idea on how much this gun may be worth?
Thanks again.

Hello, what i can say is "Hubsch" means "cute" in german, so maybe this pistol is the present of some girl to her very cherished "Mister Cute"...
I let the Luger specialists answer for the more technical questions. But you should buy it. In France, you put it on sale for 1200$, it's sold in 5 minutes. |
