I have a P.08 that I got from my great uncle, who got it from his bother-in-law, who got it in Italy during WWII, maybe at Anzio. The gun is in great shape, it's marked byf on the top and all the numbers match. The only thing missing is the round knurled button at the end of the locking bolt. What can I do to replace this item?

Hello Reed,
These come up on the auction sites from time to time. If you go after one, make sure you get the little spring-clip device that holds the locking bolt in place in the frame... One is on e-Bay right now, that is nmuber stamped "00" : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=4078 You might also want to give LF member, "LugerDoc" an e-mail. Tom's contact info is listed in the Links & Resources section of the Forum, under the listing of "HellerArms". Tom usually has the biggest inventory of luger parts in the USA and his pricing will beat auction-sites, hands down... p.s. You might want to describe your luger and its markings in more detail. Most lugers will have this part in a "straw" color; but some WWII German lugers would have had this part done in "blue". If you let Tom Heller know the specifics about your luger, he will most likely be able to get you one that has the "correct" finish... Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |

I'd like to keep the gun as original as possible. What's the likelyhood of removing the disk from one locking bolt and attaching it to the original?
