Default Holster preservation

Fellows

I have a rather nice Nambu type 94 leather holster that I would like to preserve. It has only minor surface cracking, no blow-outs and wholly intact stitching as does its matching shoulder strap.

Question: Is it advisable to clean the holster with a quality saddle soap type cleaner, allow to dry naturally an complete the task with a leather oil replacement such as lanolin.

Jerry, in his most recent comments, has favored lanolin. It is refined sheep's wool grease with no additives. This would, on its face, seem to be the best treatment.

Thanks

I have many old holsters. I never use anything but lanolin on them.

I know Connolly's leather products are used by many.

Kenny
It is a product I order on line. . It was sold by oilseater2012. It was listed as: Lanolin USP grade Anhydrous Ulta refined 100% pure . I am sure if you go on line and look for lanolin you will be successful. It is a good product for improving holsters. Buffs in nicely with no oily after affect. The container does not say who made it just says Lanolin oil. I ordered 3 of these a while ago so don't have any more info. Any pure lanolin product should work. Bill

I get my lanolin from a company called Bulk Apothecary. Any opinions on cleaning the leather with a saddle soap like Meguiar's etc?
