Hi guys, I just registered today and from reading some of the posts I see alot of knowledge and I know I am going to enjoy this forum. Now I have a question to ask. What would be the going price for a K date luger, 98% finish with holster and 2 matching mags? Thanks, DEL

A lot...
Welcome to the forum, I would be careful, and buy from dealers you know and trust, I say that because K dates are fairly rare, 2 matching mags even mroe rare and 98% finish pretty darn rare... Many fakes out there, many boosted guns and many guns unintentionally boosted years ago, (cleaned up, blueing added etc), so learn before buying a really expensive gun. Ed

Hi del,
Welcome to the forum. I have to second Ed Tinkers advice. I have been playing with Lugers a long time and have never seen a K-Date such as you describe. I would strongly suspect that any such piece to be cosmetically enhanced. The good news is that this can be ascertained rather easily and quickly. Just do a search on old issues of the forum for topics such as rebluing, Semichrome test, restoration, etc and you will find a wealth of information. Be careful; its a jungle out there. Tom A |

Del, If the barrel is, or was, importer marked and the mags don't have a suffix letter or inspector markings, I suspect that you may be looking at an E.German rework of a K date. But if nicely EG proofed, still worth more that the average shooter. Tom H.

Thanks for the replies. I just saw a nice G date with all matching mags and holster and take down tool for $3800 on a luger dealers site. That is a little steep for me right now. So I could imagine what a K date would cost. The only luger I have now is one I picked up about 8 years ago from a local gunshop that bought an estate sale. It is a 1933KL. Thanks, DEL
