Default Let's Play....What's this Stamp?

Hi Guys,

Does anyone recognize this marking? It's the mag hold open latch inside a BYF42 frame. Normally serialized there, also normally a blued part.

Could it be the E/6 from a left over Simson part? If there was not a separate section of it, I'd say maybe two numbers stamped on top of each other. Sort of looks like an S or 5 or 6? Kind of has a Gothic font....maybe....just hard to tell.

Gun is all correct and original, except for this? Trying to determine what the mark is, and then speculate when it was installed.

Thanks a bunch,
Mitch

Looks to me like a crown over a letter...perhaps an Erfurt replacement?

Mr Wood is right once again, it's an unnumbered Erfurt armorer's replacement. Here's a photo of the hold-open in a 1912 Erfurt.

Looks like it could be a Crown/B proof mark. Perhaps Erfurt?

I only collect Nazi era Lugers. No smarts on the others. Help me out here, was that mark standard on that part for Erfurt's? No serial? I'm guessing the letters rotated with time, but my question is.....is a crown over a letter a standard mark in this location for Erfurt's or another Luger?

Thanks!
Mitch

The C/B seems to have been the mark for the inspector located at Erfurt dedicated to "spare" parts inspection.
His mark is found on many if not most Erfurt replacement parts.
