Default Can you educate me on a newly acquired luger

This is my second luger. Seam to love collecting these peices of history. Seams like the deals fall in my lap and i never have any time to research them and I did well evaluating my first one I thought to take a chance on a second.
Please educate me on any/all stampings or approximate year this was made if anyone can determine that.

To me this looked like more of a shooter than a collector. Didnt seam like anything special stuck out to me. May have been rebarreled at some point as there is no serial on the barrel. I gave $600 of my hard earned dollars for this peice. Let me know what you think and if I have been had.

Hi Chris,
You have what we call a "Mixmaster", a gun fabricated from parts from different guns. The toggle train is from a K Date (1934) Mauser, but as to the other parts, we would need to see much clearer photos.

It is probably an East German Vopo, as someone bothered to "x" out a number of markings and force match others. I'm guessing the grips were added after import. Any import marks to be seen?

I'm wondering aloud if the front of the frame hasn't been ground down and re-numbered. But regardless, you weren't "had" but don't quit your job either. Definitely a shooter.

For $600 you bought a decent shooter. I assume (and hope) it cycles ammo and shoots well. What's the condition of the bore?

Enjoy it!

bore is bright ish. def not heavily pitted or anything. if say the barrel is more than likely not original. I'm gonna run some low pressure reloads tonight to check function.

If this Luger will function correctly, then I think that you did just fine at $600. I would have purchased it at that amount of money, and I don't need anymore Lugers.

Definately a DDR rework with several renumbered parts including the frame. I was selling these 30 years ago for $500 when they were still being imported, so $600 sounds like a fair retail price. TH

Good find. Fair price, particularly if it still shoots!
It will be interesting to explore further.

The frame looks like a Swiss design, to me ( no stock lug, numbers all on the left side).

This is a good deal for a complete functioning Luger. You could take it to the range and not be paranoid about hurting it. You could part it out and sell the pieces and come out ahead.

Historically, do not allow being a VOPO demean your pride of ownership. VOPO Lugers are part of the mystic of Luger history.
Enjoy your new acquisition.
