Default Oddball Browning Hi Power???

Has anyone ever seen one like this? I don't know what to think of it. I was thinking possibly it is a "last ditch" gun? or a "post liberation" gun?

It has Nazi test fire proofs on it, but no waffenampts. It is all matching. It has the fixed type rear sight, but is slotted for a stock!

Opinions welcome.

Matt

Cool HI Power.

If I wasn't prepping for a colonoscopy today. I'd get my newly acquired book, "FN Browning Pistols" by Anthony Vandelinden, and try to post like I know something about it.

But, alas I am too preoccupied and will wait to hear from others.

Eugen, pour yourself another quart and then go sit in the "little room".

I will suggest to the OP to go over to the 1911 Forum, and the Hi Power subforum with these photos and questions. There are some really well informed HP folks over there.....I am not one of them, unfortunately!!

The serial number fonts are not correct. The location of the serial number on the frame is wrong. FN - pre/post occupation and/or the Germans never put the numbers in the tang area.

The frame with the slot was discontinued early on in the WaA 103 range which would have been early in the German occupation.

Could be a sample where parts were unofficially removed from the factory or cobbled together from parts on hand after FN took control of the factory in 1944.

Charlie, good to hear from you. Will you make the Feb SOS show?

I am going, meeting up with Dwight and Lyn - I'll drive down - called about a table today, Bill says he 'thinks I'll get a table, but can't guarantee - made sure I was nice

Depends.

My son is in Beirut and he will be coming back to Dallas for more training. While back he is going to marry his fiancé. Tentatively, this will happen the week before the show. But he does not yet have a hard date. If there is a choice between SOS or the wedding, the wedding will win.

(Makes it hard to make room reservations for the SOS or for plane tickets to Dallas.)
