Here are two Simsons, one with a dated 1926 chamber, one without, both have the same serial number, explain.

Gene, both have the same serial number, explain. ?? Your bedside manner is something I would be reluctant to respond to. Is this a command? a request? Courtesy among Gentlemen requesting information is the norm. Your manners broken and in the shop?

Not Ed, but try this on from my reading of his fine book, by the way
pictures of the front of the frame would help. Two Simson Lugers would have serial numbers of 1060, one made in 1926 and one maybe in 1933, the one in 1933 would have an "a" suffix. |

Hi Don,
There is no suffix on the pistol I own - serial number only. Bill |

This could be the basis of a Luger collection. Only collect Lugers with the serial number of 1060...

David,
I got caught in that 'trap' years ago. My first purchase when rearming my collection (after selling many pieces to finance my business of twelve years) was a salt blued 1937 S42 Luger. Then it was a S42 98k rifle. Then in was a 1937 all matching including mag rust blue 1937 Luger. Then it was a full rig 1937 Kriegoff Luger. Then I started purchasing ANY WWII pistol dated 1937 or manufactured in 1937 as determined by serial number. As a result of the influence of Jerry Burney, I am out of '1937 rehabilitation'. I now have gotten into the Imperial and Weimar era Luger's and its a whole new ballgame. I love history and this era is an eye-opener. Bill Last edited by AR-50A1; 06-26-2015 at 01:53 PM. No suffix... Then, another possibility is DWM converted. How do you know it's definitely a Simson frame, not a DWM frame with stamps added?
