Trick to tighten a loose magazine

I have been working with an Erme 22 conversion unit.

Part of the problem with mine was that the magazine was unusually loose in the doner gun ( a 1917 Erfurt.

After many days of head scratching the clouds separated and the angels were singing "nylon screw" . The grip screws are a foreign pitch, but as it turns out a 10/32 screw will fit with just a little nudging. Nylon seemed the perfect material and a quick trip to a local hardware store got be a few 10/24's as they had no 10/32's, which also fit tightly.

After a little cutting and trying I ended up with a left grip screw that put enough pressure on the magazine to hold it in place and still held the grip panel without marring the finish.

Since nylon will take water soluable die I heated some RIT fabric die and water and used brown ( all I had at the time ) . From a few feet away you can't tell the difference from the original screw. After some add'l tinkering the unit is now happy, and my most accurate .22

I thought i"d pass this along as you might want to try it on your shooters
