How can you tell if a Luger has been imported? I know there are markings but what do they look like? Thanks,Brandon

They are placed where ever the particular importer wants to put them. One of my Lugers has the importers name stamped lightly onto the bottom of the trigger guard. Some of the older ones will have Germany stamped on them.

They are required to have:
Importer Name-City-State Caliber Country Some of them are really cryptic like ''Vega Sac CA 'Germany 9mm'' Some folks are now 'forgetting' to mark theirs...claiming that C&Rs don't have to be marked [and it increases the guns value, too] There is nothing written, however, that exempts these guns from being marked. And, all the major importers are still marking theirs, you will note? I think $$$$$ is the motivation, here? |
