Default 15 year old uses AR-15..............

15-Year Old Boy Uses AR-15 to Defend Himself, Sister Against Home Invaders
by Mary Chastain10 Jan 2013

A 15-year old boy used his father’s AR-15 to defend himself and his 12-year old sister against two burglars at their home just north of Houston, Texas.

Their father is a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constable, and the boy knew what he had to do to keep himself and his sister alive. Around 2:30 PM, two men tried to break in, with one going through the front door and the other in the back.

The boy grabbed the AR-15 and shot at them. The two later showed up at a Tomball hospital. The adult was hit three times and was flown to Memorial Hermann hospital, while the juvenile was taken back to the crime scene.

“We don't try to hide things from our children in law enforcement,” Lt. Jeffrey Stauber said. “That young boy was protecting his sister. He was in fear for his life and her life.”

More stories are coming out about armed citizens defending their lives and property with legally owned firearms. In the span of a week, Breitbart News has reported how a mother used a .38 revolver against an intruder, a man used his weapon to protect his 2-month old son, and a Colorado man invoked the Make My Day law in Colorado in using lethal force to defend himself against three intruders.

Senator Dianne Feinstein and others are trying to push through major gun control laws that would include banning the AR-15, the same gun used by the teenage boy.

.........................................

You won't read that in any anti-gunner news..................

Rich, It's on Breitbart.com at:

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Governm...ainst-Burglars

Much as I admire the young man for his bravery and judgement, this incident could lead to some problems because of his age. In our state (NC) young people under the age of 18 are not allowed to have unsupervised access to any firearm. We have to store them in a way that a young person could not use it. There is both criminal and civil liability should a young person use a firearm.

Right after our Castle Doctrine came into effect in December, 2011 a 14 year old defended himself and his sister as two people broke into his home. His parents were not home at the time. Luckily, the district attorney chose not to pursue charges. I hope that is what happens in this Texas incident.

Lets pretend this happened here in MA....The home invaders would have been arrested and released on their own recognizance. When their trial did come up, it would probably be "continued one year without a finding" as the court reports say, without anytime served at all. Now for the family of the house invaded - if made after 1994 possession of the "assault" weapon is illegal in MA, if purchased prior to 1994, as the high capacity weapon was in the hands of a 15 year old, the pistol/high capacity licenses would have been instantly revolked from the permit holders, the firearm in question as well as any other firearms and ammuntion would have been confiscated for destruction by the MA state police. The parents would be under arrest and fined for improper storage of a firearm as it was accessible to minors (no trigger lock or storage in a locked box), the 15 year old would be in juvenile custody for unlicensed possession of a firearm and ammunition. sadly this would just be the beginning of troubles for the invaded family. In the eyes of MA laws, they would be the criminals!
