Default Put technology to work!

Earlier this year, I had occasion to drive from Ithaca NY area to Salamanca. This is the chosen half way point where we were to retrieve my girlfriend's mother (The Monster-in-Law). brought there from Cleveland by her sis, for a visit.

About the only feature Salamanca has to offer, other than cheap tribal cigarettes, is the casino. Big adherents to the Gambler's Fallacy, the women wanted to go in and waste some money. OK, fine, I met them later, when they were poorer.

In the meantime... I drove back to "town" and asked where there was a gun shop, which I was able to find--but it was , of course, closed. Awww...

Anyway, with the advent of all these "apps" for the smart(?) phones, I wondered if there is a Gun Shop App--something that can tell an out-of-towner whete the gun shops are, and when they are open. Anybody hear of such a thing?

I teach firearms safety, and so encounter many younger people regularly in the context of the shooting sports. I'd estimate one out of 1,000 actually engage in real shooting sports.

Apps on the Android or iPod? Games... Crude simulators... a few practical apps. Gun store guide? Not to my knowledge. First person shooters; zombies; action animations, etc...

You'll find useful stuff like "Plink Log" and some Shot Timers.

But, if you go into a mapping application like Google Maps on the Android platform, and then search on "Gun Store" you'll get lots of commercial hits. Here's what it looks like on my region using the PC Google mapping application:

Rich, just go to the url:

http://maps.google.com

and search on "gun store" instead of an address.

Same thing will work with the Android Google Maps App.
