Default Safety lever?

How do I remove it to straw it? I found what looks like a small pin and I'm thinking it must hold the lever but can't figure how to remove it and I don't want to just start pounding on it like a gorilla. Help guys.

Put the safety lever in the 'inbetween' position between safe and fire. Then, using a proper punch, carefully punch out the retaining pin from the top of the frame.

I spent nearly two weeks trying to convince an individual that the pin could not be driven out from the bottom. He even attacked the frame with a Dremel tool to grind out a relief in the frame to remove the pin! I created this drawing to explain the process and it still took a couple of days to convince him.

Ron, I respect you for your great knowledge and patience but have to ask,

is it really worth wasting your time trying to convince such a fool of his folly?

BTW, great drawing. Thanks

Charlie
