If anyone could tell me anything about this pistol I would appreciate it. My interests are pretty much limited to U.S. service rifles. I am interested in buying it but a little knowledge is a sure recipe for disaster. For example the grips. The individual selling it is clearing out his collection at fire sale prices. All I have are the pictures here. Thanks.

Hi,
This is a so-called VoPo pistol. A P08 that was refurbished by the East-Germans. The SS-plate is totally out of place. The grips (without that bogus-logo) are typical for VoPo pistols, as is the overall condition of the pistol (dip blue, x-out small part serial numbers, etc..). Most of the pistol is Mauser made, only the toggle is from a DWM. Nice example of a DDR VoPo rework, if you ditch the SS-logo. Replacement DDR grips are relatively common, so easy to replace. Worth about $600 - $700 on a good day. |
