Default 1909 dated DWM

I have been looking at a 1909 chamber dated DWM luger. I can't find any reference to a 1909. All my books talk about the military 1908 model, but they say the starting date was 1910. I would appreciate any enlightenment that you folks can give me on a 1909. It is in very good condition, has a non-matching wood bottom mag. All of the parts that are visible are matching. I can't remember what the proof marks were but there were three on the right side in the normal placement of the military style.
Thanks, barr

Does it have a barrel gauge? 8,81-8,86. I have an early 1910, and it has only two inspection stampings on the right.

Hi Barry, There are no legitimate Luger variations with 1909 dated chambers. The DWM 1st Issue, which was actually made in 1909 has a blank chamber. The first Luger with a dated chamber was the 1910 DWM. Regards, Norm

Barry, Norm is absolutely correct. You would have to post photos of this "1909" dated DWM. Most likely it's dated 1910 or later or someone faked the date.

Default Barrel markings

Yes it does give the bore measurements on the bottom of the barrel.
The gun looks extremely clean and everything looks good and sharp, edges, stampings, etc.
It is unusual to say the least, it is going up for auction today, I'll watch it and let you know how it goes, if possible I'll get photos of it.
Thanks to all, barr

As Norme says, the 1908s were made in 1909. The 1910s were made in 1911. The 1910 was the first dated, the proofs were moved to the rt. side, and the barrel gauge was added.

I suspect this piece was re-dated.

Default My mistake.

I apologize, I made an error on the date on the piece. It was 1913, not 1909. I must have been having a senior moment when I recalled the date. Not sure why 1909 stuck in my head.
Anyway, i'm sorry that I gave out the wrong information. However, I do appreciate everyone's input.
I suppose I'll have to keep looking for that elusive 1909 gun.
Again I apologize for misleading everyone.
