Thought I had seen or heard of most Lugers There is always
something new. I have no connection with this on Gunbroker.
Any opinions?

I personally believe many manufacturers have had other competitor firearms in their personal gun collections.

However, I highly doubt that Colt would do this to a luger, i.e. mark it as such. I could see them marking it "colt collection" or the like, but not like it was a real colt firearm.

Exactly. Why on earth would Colt obtain a Weimar era rework, (note the 1920) with a sear safety hole evident to run tests?
This is some Colt proof house employee's lunchtime project or Colt at some point obtained new dies and these fell into the hands of a faker.

Witness the recent availability of wa amp dies and US Ordnance stamps from Gun Parts Corp. Suddenly there were dozens of M1 Carbines and Garands on the market with nice, deep Springfield Armory Crossed Cannons on the stocks and many different things from cigarrette lighters to pocket knives, all accepted by the German army.

Has anyone even noticed (except maybe Conny, (sorry Conny, too much reflection on your photo...) that the tail on this stamping comes from the middle of the back on this pony instead of behind him...

The toggle link appears to have been sanded down, and the original maker's mark (probably DWM) has been removed so that the stamper could put this mark on it. If you look at the auction, there is also a fake colt marking on the barrel.

FAKE... is the key word.

Glamour shots like that are always meant to imply that there might be a "little more" thrown into your purchase, wink, wink.

My understanding is that the Rampant Colt is a production trade mark. I doubt that Colt would apply it to a gun that they did not make.

Not to mention that this looks more like one my daughters collection of "My Little Ponys".

I agree with the above comments, but the "rampant colt" used is actually more like the one used by the city of Hannover as their symbol. This was more likely done by a Hanover cop with too much time on his hands. TH PS: I once had one of their belt buckels with the rampant horse, and it occurred to me that some Colt collector would like it, if the surrounding motto read "Colt mit uns".

Now that is pretty clever!

Actually, I think the Hannover horse lacks the spears that are on the Colt emblem but othewise is quite similar.

I know that Luger is fake as all getout, but it is still pretty neat! I would give a hundred bucks for that toggle just for grins.

And I agree with "postino", Sally looks pretty good even if she is a bit dizzy.

Did you notice in the thread discription she refers to the horse as a "mule". She may be wearing someone else's cowboy hat.
