Default 37 S/42 input

Luger marked 1937 S/42, looks refinished, but looks like older work, probably 95%, numbers match..............opinions please

Hi and welcome to the forum, it's hard to tell from your photos but your gun looks pretty good to me. Mauser switched from a rust blue finish with strawed small parts, to an all salt blue gun after serial#1500t. What is your gun's serial number suffix? Regards, Norm

Eugen, how about giving us some more information?

Why is it refinished?

From these photo's it looks ok, but these photos are not the best. If refinshed, the 95% doesn't matter in the least, once refinished, its refinished.

I haven't had this pistol in hand. Photos are what I was sent. The seller thinks the piece has been refinished, he suggested maybe 42 refinished it during the war, possible? More to come...btw he said no straw/and suffix on SN is "c"

Would check the suffix since c is out of the 1937 range. Need better pictures to tell you much. However from the present pictures it looks pretty good. I would not bet on it being refinished. Bill

Hi again, That suffix is hard to make out. Try rubbing a little talcum powder in, and taking another photo. I am almost certain the finish is original. Regards

Hard to rub talc on a picture............that's all I got Norme. Can we think about what it should be?
I see a 1937 S/42, sn 9440a, SE/63 SE/63 MTP in the Data Request thread. Could be an "a"

Updated....In contact with the owner and he is for sure it is a "c" on this pistol.
