Would anyone care to guess at the value of this rig? All numbers matching, inside and out, plus one matching mag (the "+" one). I'm terrible at grading guns, but if I had to, I'd say 75% finish. Slight pitting on back and front straps. Bore shows very slight "frosting". Gun is very accurate. Holster is dated 1940, with the maker's mark of Frost & Jahnel, and is in a gloss brown finish. Takedown tool appears to be original to the gun. Thanks in advance for any info.

According to Still's Third Reich Lugers (page 40), you have a so-called Subvariaton #1, of which 32,500 were estimated to have been made. Subvariation #2 is rarer, with only 6000 estimated (#1r-6000r). My guess for this rig with well worn closure strap and 75% finish is $1600-$1800 as a personal party transfer, but about $2500 to buy retail, such as on Simpson's site.

Sorry to disagree with the previous poster, but I would guess in todays market $1200 would be what you could expect. Holster and gun are just ok. David

With one matching mag. I'd be all over that one for $1200. But wouldn't give it a second look if it had a $2500 price tag.
Interesting how much bluing wear on the barrel and barrel extension, but the front grip strap looks great. Odd. DJU |

The pictures are not the best quality, and I apologize. The gun is pretty much the same tone all over, just doesn't look like it in the pics. The top part is not nearly as "gray" as it appears.

I see a very nice rig with honest wear (like they are supposed to have). Congrat's and enjoy.
