Default Dwm 1915

I was looking at a 1915 DWM on an auction site and noticed this marking on the right side of the frame above the grip, R.J.R. 237 M.G.K. Is this a police marking as the gun does not have the sear safety added? Thanks, Curt

I guess before I put up this post I should have looked in my newest book by Jan Still, Central Powers Pistols. There on page 278 is the exact marking on a DWM 1916. These are correct unit marked pistols which appear to be fairly rare. The unit marking for those without the book is Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 237,Maschingewehr-Kompagnie. Curt

Sam,

Your marking is:
65 Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 8 Kompagnie, weapon #5

I have a 1915 DWM ser# 168a
65 Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment, 2 Maschingewehr-Kompagnie, weapon #6
our guns might have crossed paths in an earlier time

Sam,
I would be very interested; it would be great if the two guns were able to sit next to each other again after 90+ years and thousands of miles.
If they could only talk

You can send me your pics to; jamesegg@bellsouth.net or post them here

thank you,
Jim
