Default Would this gun be a good buy?

It's a byf 41, all visible numbers match (dont know about internal parts), good bore, bakelite grips, seller wil give 3 day return policy, doesn't look abused for $1200. The only thing I was curious about, does it have that sort of metal look because it's under a lot of light, or does the bluing look worn off? What do you think about this gun? Thanks guys.

As Ed has requested, please upload your photos to the Lugerforum server, NOT photobucket.com... The free web storage locations often change their internal structure and then the link goes dead.

The gun has been photographed in poor light with flash so it is hard to determine whether or not the finish is thin or worn. I am also a little apprehensive of the grips. They may be reproductions. I would have to see better closeups of both the interior and exterior to be sure.

If the finish isn't too bad, and the numbers match, AND the grips are genuine, then the price is not a bad one.

Pat,
With the prices of Lugers going up almost daily, and the 3 day return policy... I'd take the chance. Judging from the areas without so much glare, the finish does look worn but not pitted, and priced accordingly. If the finish turns out to be darker than the pictures, it's a bargain. If the grips are genuine and the mag is correct, it's a steal. IMHO.

No I don't think so Alvin... I think the flash makes the gun look much worse than it really is...

According to the seller, the finish is about 60% - so a bit worn and thin. Sounds like original grips. With that on the table, is the gun still a decent buy for $1200, or should I offer less or pass? Any ideas? Thanks.

The grips alone are worth in the neighborhood of $300... If all matching, it is still a collectible in my mind, but the mag is not matching because it should be an FXO type, and that is not what is shown in the photos... See if you can get it with $1000 CASH in your hand... Money talks, and values will only continue to rise.
