by use of the phrase "something with collector value". It's my understanding that a rework has no "collector value" in the eyes of true collectors. Just a thought for what's worth... I would change that phrase.

Anyone who has seen Ralph Shattuck's Luger lists will find that the Morgan restorations (and these are Lugers that have been cleaned up, welded, smoothed out and reblued) command big bucks. There is a niche market for 'original, untouched, as they were found' Lugers. There is a niche market for mismatched 'Shooter' Lugers and there is also a niche market for 98%+ all original Lugers. All of these (and many more) little segments make up the overall market for Lugers. Collectable has come to imply that they won't be shot but we all know that is not an absolute. I know that I am planning on adding a Ted Green restoration to my collection soon.
