Question Barrel & Frame suffix letters.

Hey guys,

I know this is a newbie question, but I don't know the answer so I may aswell ask. Are the Barrel and Frame suffix letter supposed to be the same? As in the same letter. Also what does the 8,82 and 8,83 numbers mean?? Also I wanted to get a second opinion on what the Su25 proof mark means.

Thanks.

Hi Rylan,
The suffix is supposed to match on the frame, barrel and magazine bottom.
The 8.83... is the diameter of the bore.
Someone else will have to explain the proof.

Rylan, Military Mauser Luger barrels do NOT have suffix marks. The only place on the pistol that shows the suffix letter (if there is one) is on the front of the frame. Of course, the magazines will also have the suffix letter.

SU25 =HzA Depot #25, Spandau. (thanks Dwight G.)
Your Luger (or a part of it) has been marked in a military arsenal, if you do a search on "Spandau" you can find more information about it. (up to the right on the page)

Hi guys,
You learn something new here every day. If I would have seen a luger without the matching suffix on the barrel, I would have thought it was a replacement.
Glad to know that important piece of info.
I'm still a newbie too and know enough to get myself into trouble.
Thanks,
Mike C.
