Question Import a Firearm from Overseas?

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with how to get a firearm legally into the US from overseas. My Grandfather's Hi Power is in Greece. He passed away many years ago and my Father would like to get it back. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I believe firearm ownership is not legal in Greece. My grandfather was in the Greek Air Force and it was his service sidearm.

The folks at Simpson's www.simpsonltd.com provide an import service, as I'm sure a number of others do, but Simpson's has a pretty solid reputatation.

Hope that helps.

If the pistol is a commercial model (Hi-Power), any FFL dealer in the US can import it. If the pistol is a military model, then only a licensed importer could import the pistol into the US.

If the pistol is illegal in Greece, you migth have a problem taking it out of that country.

Good luck,

I could not say if its a commercial model or military. It was his sidearm while in the military, but he could have purchased it on his own. It was legal for Grandfather to own it because he was ex-military. I'd really like to get it, but it seems the biggest hurdle will be getting it out of Greece.
