Russian Capture Lugers
As some of you may have read i have been offered a rather inexpensive Luger. But also lastnight before I went to bed i was emailed with another offer....and what i was offered was a Mauser S/42 Russian Capture. He says pics will fallow in a few days and he said i could make him an offer based on what i think of the pics. So i was hoping that one of you guys here could take a look at the pics and tell me what you think it would be worth to give me some type of idea on what to offer... Also what exactly makes a Luger a "Russian Capture?"

Hi,
Basically, they are lugers that were seized by the Russians just after WW2. Some saw service, most were put in storage and were sold off in the 1990s. Usually they have an 'X' Russian capture/property mark somewhere on the frame or receiver. Most have seen a rather bad reblue and lost their original grips, replacements being of the cheap plastic variation. |

I have had the opportunity to check out a number of these Russian Lugers. I even owned one once. They were mechanically in very good condition and the ones that I have looked at, were all matching.
They will have the inport mark on them, but usually on the barrel. The marking may not be as pronounced as the one you posted pictures of in another thread. The Lugers make very good shooters, especially if they are still matching, as all of the parts "fit" together. Look it over and then make your decision.

I have one. It's all matching except for grips and mag. Best of all it shoots like a dream. If the price were right I would buy another!
