I just acquired a 1938 S/42 Luger. It is all matching except the magazines,
Serial #309X "d" suffix. Bluing 95% if not for patina on front and back straps. Bore is mint. has an unmarked holster (except Waa and "P08). Loading tool "42" Is this your run-of- the-mill 1938 S/42? Mike |

Hi Mike, the Germans made about 114,000 Lugers in 1938, so yours is pretty common. About half of them were marked with Waffenamt Marks of double SE/63 (which your Luger should be marked) and the other half SE/83 and SE/63. In your serial number, what does the "X" stand for?

Hi Frank,
X = missing number. I noticed that some people don't include entire serial number of the gun in their posts. Maybe it's being too cautious? Mike |

Mike, this has been discussed before too. I don't understand it for individual collectors, understand it for a business, but... Frank is asking because he collects these newer luger info...

Incidently, what is the value range for the abover luger with the indicated holster, extra fxo mag (w/bakelite bottom) and "42" loading tool?
