Default Beretta Lugers?

Joining this site has been a long time in the making for me. About a year ago I purchased a book called "The Complete Encyclopedia of Pistols and Revolvers" by A.E. Hartink. I thoroughly recommend the book as it has a plethora of information on a variety of pistols and manufacturers. I found in the book an article about Stoeger and the pistols it sold. It showed the two varieties of the "American Eagle" series of Lugers. It had the normal length barrel and a Navy version. I decided to try to track these pistols down. I went to my local gunshop and asked about the Stoeger Lugers. The clerk looked at me weird and said he had not ever heard of these. I explained my story to him and he didn't believe me. I later came back with the book and showed it to him. He had no luck in finding any. I went online and found the Stoeger website. Not having any luck myself finding Lugers I emailed them asking them about it. They said the old Stoeger company did indeed sell them but had gone out of business. He said Beretta was taking orders for these. I sent an email to Beretta regarding this and have yet to get a reply. He also mentioned your guys website. It has been months now and I have decided to join your forums in hope that you may help me out on this. Does Beretta sell these?

Nice try on the signature block and welcome to the Lugerforum... Do a forum search on Stainless Steel Lugers or Orimar and you will find the only manufacturer who is still making Lugers... Beretta never has been involved in the manufacture of Luger pistols... only pistols in caliber 9mm Luger.

Krieghoff is planning to produce a very limited run of commemorative Luger P.08 pistols sometime in the future... but the anticipated price is well over 10,000 dollars... probably not what you are looking for eh?

You can still find some of the Mauser 1970's era lugers in great condition and some even new in the box... but the prices are rising daily... Contact member Lugerdoc ( Tom Heller) in the for sale forum classifieds... he may still have a couple of the Mausers available. You can also check the gun auction websites like Gunbroker and Gunsamerica.

Aimco is still producing a limited quantity of stainless steel lugers and they cost $695 brand new in the box. This is the same company that made the Mitchell and Stoger stainless steel lugers. Call them directly to order a new luger. You probably want to have the name and address of an FFL to send it to.

Here is the contact information:
AIMCO INC.
915 Boundary St.
Houston TX 77009
Phone# (713) 305-8540

The head Cheese is Mr. Romo. I have heard that he is difficult to get ahold of on the phone, but I got him on the first try.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Thanks for all the help. Still if any info surfaces on the Beretta issue, I would like to see it. I'm not sure why the Stoeger rep sent me to Beretta. I can post a copy of the email Stoeger sent me if you guys want me to. Thanks again.

Anything is possible, but unlikely...

Ensure you go to the post WW2 section of the site, lots of stuff there to read...

One reason he sent you to Beretta, is that they bought out Stoeger and everything to do with it. If you dig deep enough you will find Luger and Stoeger. I don't know what Beretta is thinking, but you will find shotguns with the Stoeger and Luger name on them. The Luger that Stoeger sold, the stainless steel version of the handgun we all love, now comes from the original manufacturer AIMCO/ORIMAR. They are out there, just a bit tougher to get now...
