Artillery Luger Holster ID
I have been trying to read the makers nameon the inside flap of my holster. The holster is in fairly rough shape and at first I did not even think there was any writing there at all.
The little that I can make out- in a semi-circle '???NKEL D'ORVILL' and underneath that 'OFFENBACH aM' (written in a straight line) and then finally what looks like '1915' although it could be 1916, it is hard to read the final number. That is about all I can make out, the baking soda trick didn't help too much but dampening it very slightly did make it a little easier to read using my loupe. I would post pics but they really would be of no use, the writing is too indistinct. Does anyone have any further insights as to who made this? |
