1939/42 3 digit serial number no suffix, that would make it the first 1,ooo run without the s/42 right? Grips hav no markings on the left but a X and F on the right, all matching except mag.

Curley, The 1939 code 42 PO8s ran from the early R thru late Z suffix ranges, according to the books. If in fact, you don't have a suffix letter below your 3 digit number on the front of frame, yours may be one of the LAST 1939s assembled. TH
