I know there has been a few discussions on this forum and others concerning the DWM inspectorâ??s eagle vs. Erfurt Eagle.
Basically from what I understand the theory is that the inspectors stamp was independent of the manufacture therefore, you could find one or the other or even both eagle types on any gun. Has anyone seen the inspectors stamp on the front of the trigger guard of a DWM before? Any thoughts ....... The gun can be found at: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...?Item=36552968 Jim

Jamese, I'm seen several DWM LPO8 so marked with the Prussian added Imperial eagle on the trigger guard. It can also be found on serveral other WWi used pistols, eg Brooms, M1913 Sauer, M1914 Mauser & Beholla (See Still Vol 1 page 46). So I believe an eagle on the trigger guard to be a post factory added property mark, indicating Army ownership. TH

The following is posted at the request of Ig's spokesman:
'I have closely examined my entire collection of DWM P08 pistol, all from 1918, and have singularly failed to find any number on the trigger guard whatsoever. Sad, but here you are. tac'
